Questions
Why did my download save as WebP?
Many websites send WebP because it is smaller. Your browser keeps it that way when you save the image.
Is quality lost?
Very little: the default quality, 85, looks the same as the WebP. Transparent areas become white, as JPG cannot store them.
Can I convert animated WebP?
No — only the first frame would survive, so animated images are refused rather than silently flattened.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your own browser, on your device. Your images are never sent to a server, and we never see them.
