Questions

Will my photo look worse?

As little as possible: the highest quality that fits is chosen for each photo. Only a large photo that cannot fit even at low quality is also made smaller in pixels — never below 800 px on its longest side.

What happens to PNG images?

PNG is compressed without any loss, so it can rarely get under 100 KB. Here it is saved as JPG instead, which can (transparent areas become white). JPG and WebP images stay in their format. To keep a PNG as PNG, use Compress image.

Is 100 KB here the same as on the form?

It is 100,000 bytes — the smaller of the two ways forms count a kilobyte — so the file fits either way. The size of each result is shown before you download it.

I need a different limit.

Use Compress image and choose “Target size”: 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB or any size you type.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your own browser, on your device. Your images are never sent to a server, and we never see them.
