Questions

Can I choose which part of the photo is kept?

Here the square is taken from the centre. To choose the area yourself, use Crop image with the 1:1 ratio, then Resize image.

Why 400 × 400?

It is sharp in every place a profile picture appears, and small enough for any upload form. Smaller photos are enlarged to reach it.

Is anything else in the photo kept?

Only the picture. Location, camera details and the other hidden information are removed.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your own browser, on your device. Your images are never sent to a server, and we never see them.
